Our Legacy

Jack RamptonEstablished in 1950 by Dr. Jack Rampton, our practice has been a leader in providing qaulity smiles for more than 60 years. Dr. Jack’s vision of bringing excellence and unmatched patient care to Davis county was continued by his son, Dr. Clark B. Rampton. Dr. Clark is a Board Certified Orthodontist who is renowned in the area for providing his patients with outstanding results.

Dr. Clark Rampton, a native of Kaysville, received his undergraduate B.A. degree from the University of Utah, where he graduated with honors in biology.  He went on to earn his dental degree at the University of Southern California, widely considered to be one of the premier dental schools in the nation.  He graduated in the top of his class, and was honored by being elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a national dental honor society.  After obtaining his dental degree, Dr. Rampton finalized his formal education by completing a residency program and specialty training in orthodontics, also at USC.Dr_-Rampton-picture

Proud to carry on a family orthodontic legacy, Dr. Rampton joined the practice of his father in Kaysville in 1981.  He immediately took on the added challenge of becoming board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.  This distinction is only available to qualified specialists. In 2003, Dr. Rampton voluntarily completed optional re-certification examinations with the American Board of Orthodontics.

In 1996, Dr. Rampton was elected President of the Utah Association of Orthodontists.  In addition to this Association, he maintains active memberships with many other prestigious orthodontic and dental organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, The Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists, The American Dental Association, and the Utah Dental Association.

In 2011, Dr. Rampton passed on his legacy to Dr. Defay. Today, the staff of Defay Orthodontics still has the pleasure of working occasionally with Dr. Rampton, and Dr. Defay has continued forward with his tradition of excellence.
